Trump Says Booker Has ‘No Chance’ To Be President

Yesterday Sen. Cory Booker declared he was running for president in 2020. And now Donald Trump is saying that the New Jersey Democrat has “no chance” of winning the White House.

“Pres. Trump said Democratic Sen. Cory Booker, who just announced he’s running for president, has “no chance” in the 2020 election, in an exclusive interview with CBS News “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan.”

“I say no chance,” Trump said of Booker’s shot at the presidency in an interview with CBS News “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan, to be broadcast in full on Sunday.

When pressed for more details about his conclusion on Booker, Trump responded: “Because I know him. He has no chance.”

Booker officially announced his presidential campaign on Friday morning and then later spoke to reporters outside of his home in Newark.

When asked about Trump, Booker declined to call the president a racist and emphasized his campaign will not be about “who I’m against or what I’m against.”

“I don’t know the heart of anybody,” Booker said when asked if Trump was a racist. “I’ll leave that to the Lord.”

Yesterday we reported that Booker sees Trump’s weak spot and has developed a message of love and national unity which has Trump worried.

In typical Trump fashion the president said that no Democrats running in 2020 concern him, saying:

“So far, I don’t see anybody. I don’t — I’m not impressed with their group,”

Trump also discussed the field of 2020 Democratic challengers in an interview with the New York Times. He said that Sen. Kamala Harris of California had the best campaign rollout. He also made fun of Sen. Elizabeth Warren and her claimed Native American heritage.

The CBS interview with Trump comes just before his first State of the Union address since Democrats won control of the House in last November’s elections. He is scheduled to give his address before a joint session of Congress on February 5.

There are also now less than two weeks before there may be another Trump-caused government shutdown. Funding for several federal departments and agencies runs out on February 15 and Trump continues to demand money for his misguided border wall with Mexico. He has threatened to declare a national emergency, which would give him the ability to use money given to the military to build a wall without congressional approval.

In the CBS interview Trump also said that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is “very bad for the country.”  According to Trump, Pelosi is doing a “terrible disservice to our country,” saying:

“She’s — she’s costing the country hundreds of billions of dollars because what’s happening is, when you have a porous border and when you have drugs pouring in, and when you have people dying all over the country because of people like Nancy Pelosi who don’t want to give proper border security for political reasons — she’s doing a terrible disservice to our country.”

This prompted MSNBC analyst Jonathan Alter to tweet that Pelosi should get equal time because Trump‘s interview is full of lies.

Trump attacks Pelosi and lies about her in CBS interview to air during the Super Bowl. CBS should either run that part only on “Face the Nation” where it can be corrected by the panel or give Pelosi equal time. The latter would set a good precedent for respecting Congress.”
