Democrats refused to shake Trump hand, as it has been mostly Republicans who want to be seen with this president after his speech to Congress.

One of the few exceptions has been Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, but outside of Democrats in red states who are up for reelection next year, there is no reason for Democrats to want to be seen with Trump.
President Trump has a 9% approval rating with Democrats. Being seen with Trump is politically toxic for the future of any Democrat outside of a red state in Congress.
On principle alone, Democrats should refuse to shake Trump’s hand. This is a president who has shown nothing but hostility towards Democrats. For many Democrats, President Trump will always be the birther who baselessly attacked President Obama with racism.
Democrats should reject Trump because he has yet to show that he has the moral character worthy of their hands.
