Trump is trying to use his presidential power to launch a criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton in an obvious effort to distract attention away from his own Russia connections and scandal.
Trump tweeted:
So why aren't the Committees and investigators, and of course our beleaguered A.G., looking into Crooked Hillarys crimes & Russia relations?

Right after he won the election, Trump told 60 Minutes, “I don’t want to hurt them. I don’t want to hurt them. They’re good people.”
Trump made similar statements to The New York Times:
“I don’t want to hurt the Clintons, I really don’t. She went through a lot and suffered greatly in many different ways."

Donald Trump has no other tricks. His primary gimmick has always been to divert from his own scandals by turning attention to the scandals of others. Unfortunately, he couldn’t have been gifted a better target than Hillary Clinton in 2016, but the election is over. Hillary Clinton isn’t the president. Clinton is a private citizen, most importantly, there is zero evidence that she ever did anything wrong.
Trump’s call for a criminal investigation into Clinton is just the presidential version of lock her up.
It is an empty tactic designed to distract, but the fact that Trump is pulling this stunt shows a president in full decline who still thinks that he is living in 2016 election.
