Trump claimed that he turned down being named Person Of The Year from Time, but the magazine shot back and debunked Trump’s lie.
Trump tweeted:
Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,†like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!

Time replied by crushing Trump’s frail ego:
The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6.

Trump isn’t going to be person of the year for 2017. It isn’t even close. Unless Time chooses their person of the year based on criteria that the person accomplish nothing, and play lots of golf on the taxpayer’s dime, Trump does not have a chance.
Time never comments or leaks in advance the person of the year. Trump is lying because he feels like he should be person of the year, and he is pulling a version of the old I didn’t get fired because I quit routine. The magazine smacked down Trump right away, which resulted in more humiliation for the failing president.
