After Trump sabotaged his own party by attacking a CHIP extension that he seemed to know nothing about, Republicans are wishfully thinking that their president is just confused as opposed to being flat out nuts.
Jonathan Swan of Axios tweeted:
Another (perhaps wishful thinking) theory circulating among GOP leadership: that Trump is confused, worded his tweet wrong, and is actually endorsing six-year CHIP extension. https://t.co/xt2eflRpEZ

Confused? So, that’s what they’re calling it now.
Swan also tweeted a more likely explanation:
A related note, per a source close to Republican leaders: “This has to be the most feckless bunch of boobs I’ve ever encountered.†https://t.co/YCwqoA4UQr

The Republican Party, which means that by extension the federal government, is being run by a collection of feckless boobs. The incompetence of the GOP should not be surprising to anyone who has watched the House Republican majority create crisis after crisis that Democrats had to bail the country out of for years. The bad news for the American people is that Democrats aren’t in charge anymore, so the country is stuck with this team of incompetents behind the wheel.
Trump wasn’t confused. He has no idea what he is talking about, while also being out of his mind.
The government is heading for a shutdown, and will likely stay that way until Fox News tells Trump to open it back up.
Trump isn’t confused. He’s a moron bent on national destruction.
