Trump tried to insult Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), but the incoming chairman of the House Intelligence Committee turned it around into a total backfire on the president.
Here was the exchange:
Wow, Mr. President, that’s a good one.
Was that like your answers to Mr. Mueller’s questions, or did you write this one yourself? https://t.co/Yd27sayt7C

Trump misspelled Adam Schiff’s name, but then he made matters even worse for himself by trying to taunt the future chair of the House Intelligence Committee, who immediately connected the tweet back to Trump’s bogus claim that he wrote all of his own answers to Robert Mueller’s questions.
The message sent to Trump was clear. Adam Schiff isn’t going to play Trump’s little Twitter taunt games. Donald Trump is in the big leagues now with real congressional oversight. Trump can act like a child on social media all day long, but there are now adults overseeing him.
Playtime is over. No one in the House is going to look the other way and cover-up for him anymore.
Rep. Schiff warned Trump on Whitaker potentially interfering with Mueller on Sunday morning. The warning has clearly gotten under Trump’s skin, which is why he tried to lash out Schiff, who promptly turned it back around on him, and highlighted what this president fears most.
Robert Mueller is coming, and soon the House majority is going to have his back.
