Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) stood up against Trumpcare with a breathtaking speech where the Civil Rights icon vowed to fight the Republican health care law with every bone and breath in his body, as Trumpcare looks completely doomed.

Rep. Lewis said in part, “This is the right and wrong of it. This is the heart and soul of the matter. We can not abandon our principles. Mr. Speaker, we can not forget our values. For too hard, and too long to back down now. I will fight any bill that turns the clock back to a darker time. I will fight every single attempt to turn a deaf ear, a blind eye, and a cold shoulder to the sick, to our seniors, and to working families. Mr. Speaker, I will fight every day, every hour, every minute, and every second. I’ll oppose this bill with every breath, and every bone in my body. We must not give up. We can not. I will not give in not today, not tomorrow, and never ever. On this bill, there is only one option, and that option is to vote no.”
Mr. Lewis just explained to America what it means to be a Democrat. What Rep. Lewis so passionately spoke about was everything that the Democratic Party stands for. His speech was amazing. It was the kind of uplifting talk that Democrats need to hear. Paul Ryan and Donald Trump did Democrats a big favor by attacking health care. They reminded the Democratic Party what their mission is, and who they are.
If John Lewis is ready to fight, there is no excuse for every person on the left not to be standing with him.
