Elizabeth Warren Refuses To Take Trump’s Bait, Puts Focus Back On Middle-Class Americans

Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth refused to take Donald Trump’s racist bait on Monday, instead deciding to put the focus back where it belongs: on middle-class Americans struggling to get by.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, Warren said that Trump’s filthy attacks on her have no impact on her work and will only encourage her to continue working on behalf of the “hard-working folks” she represents.

The Democratic senator said, “Donald Trump can throw whatever he wants at me. It’s wrong, it’s ugly, it’s nasty, but it says a whole lot more about Donald Trump than it does about me or the fight that I’m in.”

Warren’s response comes after Trump couldn’t help but attack Warren using a racial slur during an event to honor Native American veterans, calling her “Pocahontas.”

There was an immediate and widespread backlash, particularly from Native American groups, but Warren said “it doesn’t” affect her work as a U.S. senator. Instead, she is focused on making sure the government is “working for families, for hard-working folks all across this country.”

At the end of the day, Trump is simply trying to distract the country from his latest effort to pass a massive tax cut for wealthy Americans, while footing lower and middle-income folks with the bill.

And all the while, he is only making Elizabeth Warren a more formidable presidential candidate.
