Rachel Maddow explained on Tuesday that even if Robert Mueller is forced from his role as special counsel, the Russia investigation “cannot be stopped.”

According to the MSNBC host, who analyzed over 40 pages of new special counsel court filings, no matter what Donald Trump or Republicans do to undermine the special counsel investigation, it will continue.
“This investigation cannot be stopped if you stop Robert Mueller,” Maddow said.

Maddow explained:
If somehow magically Robert Mueller was disappeared and the special counsel’s office was no longer allowed to be involved in these investigations, nevertheless, these investigations would persist. This seems very important to me. Page 42 of the filing. “The senior assistant special counsel in charge of this prosecution is a long time career prosecutor with the internal authority to conduct this prosecution separate and aside from his role in the special counsel’s office.” … If Robert Mueller somehow goes away, if he gets raptured, if the whole special counsel’s office gets wrapped up and thrown away, these prosecutions will continue. … You make the special counsel’s office go away, those senior prosecutors still have authority. You poof Robert Mueller somehow, this investigation will continue. Buried in this filing that came out late last night, there is a blunt assertion here from the special counsel’s office that this investigation cannot be stopped if you stop Robert Mueller.
Trump and Republicans have repeatedly tried to undermine Mueller
Donald Trump and his GOP allies in Congress have repeatedly tried to undermine the efforts of Robert Mueller. Each new effort to derail the Russia investigation seems to come at times when the special counsel probe is inching closer to Trump.
But as Maddow said, there is effectively nothing Trump or his protectors in Congress can do to stand in the way of this investigation.
Not only is the train way too far from the station to be turned around, but the special counsel – according to the new court filings – made it clear from the start that it “cannot be stopped.”
Whether Trump and his Republican loyalists like it or not, Robert Mueller’s investigation will never be stopped.
