Trump Freaks Out And Calls For Mass Resignations At The NY Times Over Kavanaugh Allegations

Donald Trump had another freakout on Monday, calling for mass resignations of reporters at The New York Times for reporting on Brett Kavanaugh sexual assault allegations and the Trump-Russia campaign collusion in 2016.

In a pair of tweets, the unstable president said, “I call for the Resignation of everybody at The New York Times involved in the Kavanaugh SMEAR story, and while you’re at it, the Russian Witch Hunt Hoax, which is just as phony!”

Trump doesn’t want a free press. He wants a free pass.

Donald Trump calling important reporting about both the Russia scandal and sexual assault allegations against a Supreme Court justice is nothing short of nonsense.

Robert Mueller’s final report shows not only that Russia interfered in American elections with the help of the Trump campaign, but the president obstructed the investigation into that interference. That’s hardly a “phony” issue.

The same applies to the Kavanaugh sexual assault allegations, which were always serious and credible – but Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress looked the other way and rushed to confirm him to the Supreme Court before the claims could be adequately investigated.

The press isn’t perfect, but it is their responsibility to continue searching for the truth – whether it’s a president of the United States coordinating with a foreign adversary or a man on the Supreme Court allegedly sexually assaulting multiple women.

Luckily, Donald Trump doesn’t get to make staffing decisions for The New York Times or any other newspaper with an ounce of credibility.
