When John McCain peddled his Benghazi cover up conspiracy theory on Meet the Press, things didn’t go as he expected. Even his old friend David Gregory will no longer stand confidently on the rickety timber of McCain’s bitterness.
Gregory pushed back, demanding facts and specifics, “I’m asking you, a cover up of what?” This led to John McCain exploding in an ad hominem attack accusing Gregory of not caring that four Americans died, as if there were no middle ground between believing John McCain in spite of the evidence and caring about the deaths of Americans.

Transcript from Meet The Press:
JOHN MCCAIN: So there are many, many questions. And we have had– a massive cover-up on the part of–
DAVID GREGORY:But a massive cover-up of what?
(OVERTALK)
DAVID GREGORY:–I mean, Susan Ri– wait a minute–
(OVERTALK)
DAVID GREGORY:Susan Rice said there was a lot of–
JOHN MCCAIN: Do you care–
DAVID GREGORY:–confusion.
JOHN MCCAIN: Do you care–(OVERTALK)
DAVID GREGORY: I’m asking you–
JOHN MCCAIN: Do you care to–DAVID GREGORY:–what is the Republican way–
JOHN MCCAIN: I’m asking you, do you care– I– I’m– I’m asking you, do you care whether four Americans died? Or do you– the reasons for that? And– and shouldn’t pe– people be held accountable for the fact that four Americans died–
DAVID GREGORY: Well, what you said was the cover-up–
(OVERTALK)
DAVID GREGORY: A cover-up of what?
JOHN MCCAIN: Of the information– concerning the deaths of four brave Americans. The information has not been forthcoming. You can obviously believe that it has. I know that it hasn’t. And I’ll be glad to send you a list of the questions that have not been answered, including what did the president do and who did he talk to the night of the attack on Benghazi?
And why was it? Why was it that we– that the f– the people who were evacuated from the– from the consulate the next day were not interviewed the next day. And then they would’ve known that it was not a spontaneous demonstration. Why did the president for two weeks, for two weeks during the heat of the campaign continue to say he didn’t know whether it was a terrorist attack or not?
When John McCain has lost even David Gregory, it might be time for him to reboot. The Arizona Senator seems unable to get over his 2008 bitterness, and is wallowing in self-pitying rage that he still expects the media to buy sans any proof. The press has been McCain’s “base” for so long that being assertively questioned by them and asked to provide specifics must have been shocking. McCain didn’t come prepared with details or facts, because for years he hasn’t needed either.
McCain peddled his conpsiracy as far as he could, even managing to continue long after he embarrassed himself by sqwaking about how he needed more information while skipping a briefing on Benghazi. Only John McCain seems to be unable to get over his dashed hopes of a conspiracy cover up when faced with facts. Even the Hillary Clinton Benghazi hearing schooling failed to awaken the Senator to reality.
We witnessed history today as David Gregory pushed back against John McCain’s Benghazi conspiracy theory. Republicans have taken the crazy so far that even David Gregory refuses to carry their Benghazi conspiracy water.
Meanwhile, because of John McCain’s irrational grudges against Chuck Hagel and Barack Obama, the once proud Country First presidential candidate has left the nation without a sitting Secretary of Defense during a time of war.

Yes, we need an investigation of Bush-Cheney’s lies and manipulation that got us into an illegal, immoral war against Iraq, resulting in the death of some 5,000 U.S. Soldiers and many times that total of Iraqi citizens under the falsehood that this was a war against terrorists. The terrorists were not in Iraq until after our invasion.

It is so said to see what has become of Senator John McCain. He is a true American hero but like all of us, age has changed him. He is a bitter man because he lost the presidency. What he didn’t understand it was the bungling of his own campaign and the fact that it took too long to shut up the right wing bigots attacking future President Obama that clinched his defeat.

What about all the soliders that have been killed in this war? Why is there no concern for them? The only reason that McCain is pissed is because this is a man that Pres. Obama nominated. I wonder if he would be so upset if the Pres. had nominated him. Move on! Forward!

Maybe John McCain thought that President Obama would nominate him for Sec’y of Defense just as he had nominated Sen. Kerry for Sec’y of State. Poor John McCain. Graduating at the bottom of his Annapolis class, crashing planes and disobeying orders so that he and his crew got captured somehow does not make one an ideal candidate for Sec’y of Defense. I think John McCain needs to retire immediately.

McCain is a foolish old man as well as all the other GOP members of the Congress who continue to belittle our elected President, Barack Obama!
It’s time for all of them to put away their bitterness and bigotry and start doing the job they were sent to Congress to do or be voted out in 2014!

John is a damaged POW and the more he ages, the more it becomes evident that he needs serious therapy…
To think he could have been President (until Americans looked at his VP nomination in Sarah Palin) and the public summarily rejected him.

I seem to recall the day after the attack, President Obama was in the Rose Garden and said something along the lines of, and I am paraphrasing, “we will not let any acts of terror go unpunished”.. where does mccain get off saying that it was “a full two weeks” before the President acknowledged it was a terrorist attack???? And to repeat another poster on this thread, where was the moral outrage when all the attacks on our embassies around the world were attatcked under Jr. bush???? Four brave Americans lost their lives, and that is a tragedy… however, find out what went wrong and fix it! It may have had something to do with the republicans refusal to give the embassies funds to protect themselves…

How many ways can you beat a dead horse, and for how long? When you look at all of the issues that the president addresses in person and the time he spends on each, how can anyone say he was irresponsible with something of such great importance. He is doing, or at least trying to do, all that he has promised. If promises aren’t kept, it’s through no fault of his own. Climbing a mountain with a boulder on your back makes for slow going.

I think a lot of people are looking at this the wrong way. Could there be a conspiracy? Absolutely. I dunno about you but I’m not privy to classified documents. Could McCain be right? As much as it pains me to say so, yes he could. Is there any evidence to support the fact that there could be a conspiracy? No. Is there evidence to support a lot of “conspiracies” people believe have happened? Not always. Does that mean there absolutely isn’t one? No. Maybe there is, maybe there isn’t. However, saying there is without evidence is foolish, and immature.

Like Gregory I would have to say cover up of what? Conspiracy requires and active participation of person to engage in covert or illegal efforts. Other than World Net Daily’s out there claim of sending weapons to Syria I have not heard the Repugnants say anything other than the O man and his crew were negligent in their response.

The question Gregory “should” have asked: “Senator McCrazy applying this standard of disclosure are you satisfied we know everything about the Bush administrations lead up to and response after 911?” I would love to see the look on his face. Matter of fact this question needs to be asked of every Repugnant Senator beating this dead horse. My guess is if it was the story would quickly go away!

Senator John McCain is a Republican. Were you expecting something factual or revelant?
Senator John McCain is old- way past retirement age- like most Republicans.
I used to have a strange sort of respect form. I was not a POW and I gues he
gave me a weird guilt or something. How can you bash a POW?
I guess you can bash a POW when he stands for the wrong things and lies every
time he moves his lips and then waves the flag in your face. He is a Republican.

Benghazi conspiracy theorists are no different than birthers.
No amount of evidence will satisfy them, because they need the ability to thump their chests in faux outrage — the steadfast denial of the readily available evidence gives congressional Republicans a rationalization for their blatant obstructionism and political contrarianism.

I would love to see McBlame and Miss Lindsey go on the sunday shows and explain to parents like me why our sons and daughters died in a war that was a republican lie from the outset. Not taking anybody out of context because they said it with their own mouths on the documentary I watched Rachel Maddow do. No spin, just republicans telling how they knew it was wrong, but kept quiet and let the criminal administration get our kids killed, along with hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi women, men and kids. Yes 4 is to many, but so was over 4 thousand in Iraq and over 3 thousand in New York Mr. McBlame.

John McCain is an angry, bitter old man still bogged down in 2008 and licking his wounds after the drubbing he got in the presidential election that year. I’m quite sure that his anger increased after President Obama was re-elected last year. Because of that, he is gleefully joining others in spitefully trying to thwart the president’s agenda. If he had been truly interested in what happened in Ben Ghazi, he would have attended the meeting that would have shed light on the issue. Instead, he’s been using it as a weapon to club current and prospective members of the Obama administration with. It’s utterly ridiculous that he would be rewarded on these programs when he has absolutely nothing of value to contribute. All he does is make irrational assertions with nothing to back them up with.
