Friday Fox Follies – Falafels In The Falklands

bill o'reilly

When Friday Fox Follies went to press last week, Brian Williams’ spectacular crash to earth still echoed in Halls of Mediazuma. Many wags (this one included) noticed the condemnation was loudest (shrillest?) at the Fox “News” Channel, which did not hold itself to the same high standards.

Yesterday Mother Jones published a SHOCKER! if you can be shocked that Bill O’Reilly Has His Own Brian Williams Problem because Bill O’Reilly’s Falkland Island War Story Called Into Question. Whether it was a case of schadenfreude or legitimate news, CNN Discusses Report That O’Reilly Exaggerated His War Reporting Experiences.

However, the Falafel King wasn’t going to take being called on his lying lying down: Bill O’Reilly: Mother Jones report ‘garbage’:

“It was clear that I did not say I was in the Falkland Islands. I’ve done myriad interviews over the years and I never said that,” O’Reilly told On Media.

If he didn’t say what Mother Jones reported, what about this video where he actually said it?

Watch:

While, Bill O’Reilly Responds To Mother Jones’ ‘Brian Williams’ Piece With Name Calling and O’Reilly Responds to Mother Jones Report: ‘Total Bullsh*t’, the “despicable guttersnipe,” Mother Jones’ David Corn, hits back at Bill O’Reilly:

“To me, the issue here is whether a media figure and journalist like Bill O’Reilly, who claims to be a truth teller, can get away without answering questions about specific statements he’s made, and hide behind name calling,” Corn told the On Media blog on Thursday. “I would encourage anyone else who covers this story to get Bill O’Reilly to answer those quesitons [sic] — if not to me, than to anyone else.”

So far The Mainstream Media Sides With Fox News By Refusing To Investigate Bill O’Reilly’s War Lies. However, I’ll believe O’Reilly when The Paris Business Review publishes the official pictures of him under enemy fire in the Falklands War Zone.

Remember Bill O’Reilly’s Holy War Against George Tiller? Well he’s at it again with a new Crusade–or is that Jihad?

As AlterNet‘s Zaid Jilani reports in Bill O’Reilly and Fox News Call for Holy War Against ISIS:

What O’Reilly and others at Fox seem to be missing is that there’s a pretty good reason no world leader here in the West or in the Middle East has accepted the frame that we’re in a “holy war”: it’s exactly what ISIS wants. In November 2014, ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi declared in a televised address that “fighting is obligatory upon each individual” Muslim, and referred to the United States and allied forces as “crusaders”—invoking the imagery of a holy war like those fought between the Church and Muslim empires centuries ago.

There will be plenty of time to dissect Jon Stewart’s place in the broadcast pantheon, but The New York Post’s Kyle Smith isn’t wasting time. Taking sour grapes, he fermented a bitter whine in How Jon Stewart turned lies into comedy and brainwashed a generation. Yet Rupert Murdoch Paper Ironically Calls Jon Stewart A Liar Without Actually Showing Us A Single Lie.

Speaking of fake news: Cowardly Fox Covers SNL Reunion, Decides NOT To Include Jane Curtin’s Epic Smackdown:

A lot has changed since I sat at this desk.  For example, I used to be the only pretty blonde woman reading fake news.  Now there’s an entire network devoted to that.

Oh, snappity, snap snap!!!

Announcing the FFF Toddles Contest: This reporter challenges all readers to find any instance when the following distinct pattern was not followed:

STEP 1: Fox “News” trumpets a Todd “Toddles” Starnes story about Christians being persecuted in schools, or the Gay Agenda, or crushing of Conservative Free Speech on campuses;

STEP 2: Someone traces the story back to its source only to discover Toddles omitted something, or ignored something, or falsified something, to create an outrage not sustained by any of the facts.

Toddles had a two-fer this week:

Fox News Gets Duped By Another
Bogus Anti-Gay Horror Story

Conservatives rage against Florida school after
Fox News article botches ‘God bless America’ story

By now Fox “News” should know better than to follow Toddles down the rabbit hole. More proof, if any were needed, that Fox is more concerned with creating phony outrage than the truth.

The best comedy on the Fox “News” Channel always follows the administration trolling the station. This time it was U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder: If Fox Didn’t Obsess over Term ‘Radical Islam,’ ‘They’d Have Nothing Else to Talk About.’ And, they’re off!!!

Mission Accomplished: Fox & Friends Hosts

Furious Fox hosts hit back at Holder: ’45

Fox & Friends Beyond Outraged at Holder:
He’s ‘Tougher on Fox’ Than on ISIS

Remember: We’ll win the Fox “News” Holy War only if the President uses the right words.

Tucker Carlson fills a weird triple role at Fox. He’s a host on Fox & Friends Weekend and occasionally fills in during the week. You’ll also find him all over the schedule providing the Conservative/Libertarian/Wingnut counterpoint to debates that Fox “News” pretends are “fair and balanced.” Lastly, Carlson publishes The Daily Caller [find your own link], which makes up crap that gets picked up by Fox “News” and fed into the Murdoch Mendacity Machine’s Massive Maw™.

FFF wondered, “What’s his FAP? when Tucker Carlson [said]: ’50 Shades of Grey’ is ‘creepy as hell’ because it’s erotica ‘only for women.’ Ewww! It’s clear that Tucker Carlson Doesn’t Understand What Women Want. Or, what readers want. The ‘Daily Caller’ embarrasses itself with ‘Kill All the Jews’ headline — but no one should be surprised. Tucker Carlson Blames ‘Hungover’ Editor For ‘Kill All The Jews’ Headline. No, really.

In a squib oddly titled Hrrrmmm, Talking Points Memo‘s Josh Marshall asks the musical question “Did The Daily Caller make up this a phony quote?” Would the answer change the fact that it was a phony quote?

That’s why the invisible, leading F in Tucker is not silent.
