CIA Director John Brennan Contests Trump’s Claims About Intelligence Briefing

Last updated on July 17th, 2023 at 09:10 pm

Donald Trump claimed that intelligence briefers disapproved of President Obama’s foreign policy and that he knew this because “I’m pretty good with body language,” and “I could tell they were not happy.”

Besides the complete impropriety of revealing anything about an intelligence briefing, Trump has now received push-back from no less a person than CIA Director John Brennan. Appearing on CBS’ Face the Nation, Brennan said,

“I know the briefers that have been briefing the candidates. They are the quintessential professional intelligence officers. They do their work very well.

“We don’t comment on policy. We don’t give policy recommendations, so I am fully confident that they comported themselves with the utmost professionalism and demonstrated their real breadth and depth of intelligence capabilities.”

Obviously, Brennan did not comment on body language other than to refer to the professionalism of the intelligence officers giving the briefing, but it is clear that Trump is either lying or simply saw what he wished to see.

If you’re wondering whom to believe, remember, Donald Trump is also the only one who saw Muslims cheering on 9/11 during the attack on the Twin Towers.
