Study: 1 Out Of Every 19 Words Trump Says Is False

New data goes beyond how many false statements Trump makes and shows that one out of every nineteen words that he speaks every day is false.
The Toronto Star collected and reported on the data:

Of all the words Trump said and tweeted as president as of July 1, 5.1 percent were part of a false claim. Expressed differently: Trump uttered a false word every 19.4 words.

Trump’s dishonesty density is increasing: The issue isn’t just that he’s talking more these days. It’s that what he’s saying is less truthful. In weeks that started in 2017, 3.8 percent of Trump’s words were part of a false claim. In 2018, it’s 7.3 percent. Expressed differently: in 2017, Trump said about 26 words for every one false word. In 2018, it’s down to about 14 words per one false word.

Trump’s lies are increasing in frequency

Trump is lying more often than ever before. According to The Star’s Trump’s lie metrics, which are lower than The Washington Post, Trump is talking 20 percent more, but his lie frequency has nearly doubled. Trump increase in lies is larger than his increase in word output, which is a really fancy way of saying that more of Trump’s words are lies than ever before.

Almost all people can speak at least 14 words without saying something false. It takes serious effort or a serious mental illness to have one out of every 14 public words typed or spoken be a lie.

The reason why the press took away much of Trump’s free media platform was that the president wouldn’t speak to the American people truthfully and it is impossible to fact-check his lies in real time.

Trump is drowning the nation in a sea of lies, and the path to victory for Democrats in 2020 is to run a candidate who speaks simply and honestly to the American people because the only thing that can stop a liar is the truth.
