It’s bad enough that the human embodiment of a YouTube comment section – Donald Trump – is president of the United States.

More frightening, however, is that many of his supporters believe his presence in the Oval Office was an act of God.

According to a brand new Fox News poll, 55 percent of white Evangelical Christians – one of Trump‘s strongest voting blocs – believe God wanted this president to beat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

Overall, 25 percent – still a scary number – believe a higher being favored a Trump presidency. A combined 76 percent say they either don’t believe or are unsure of whether God made Trump commander-in-chief.

More from Trump‘s favorite news network:

Over half of white evangelical Christians, 55 percent, feel God put Trump in office. That drops to 36 percent among Protestants and 20 percent among Catholics.

Trump voters are nearly six times as likely as Clinton voters to believe God wanted Trump to win the election (46 vs. 8 percent). The results are nearly identical among Republicans (45 percent) and Democrats (9 percent).

The stunning polling data comes after White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told Christian Broadcasting Network that, yeah, God was a Trump superfan.

“I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times and I think that he wanted Donald Trump to become president, and that’s why he’s there,” Sanders said with what I assume was a straight face.

No version of God would support Donald Trump

No matter how you slice it, there is no version of God that would approve of the person or president Donald Trump is and has been his entire life.

This is a man who repeatedly screwed workers and dodged taxes consistently throughout his business career. His only concern through it all has been himself.

He is a thrice-married man literally on tape bragging about how he is proud of the ease with which he can sexually assault women. More than a dozen women have come forward accusing him of sexual misconduct.

He has even paid off women – including porn star Stormy Daniels – to keep quiet about the affairs he had with them. Those payments are part of multiple crimes that his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, has implicated him in.

All of this goes without mentioning the fact that Trump is a serial liar. Throughout his presidency, he has spewed thousands of falsehoods without batting an eye.

Donald Trump is an amoral con man. The idea that God is cheering his presidency would be laughable if so many of his supporters didn’t believe it.
