Sen. Bernie Sanders is making a move to consolidate his potential progressive support by reaching out to supporters of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
Sen. Sanders told Politico:

Senator Warren is a good friend of mine and her views and mine are pretty close on most of the major issues, so we’ll be bringing in some of those people into our organization.

We will be outspent, but what I always was concerned about, and why I hesitated getting into this was – could we raise enough money to run a strong campaign? You don’t need $2 billion to run in Iowa. We will have enough money to run a strong campaign.
The movement of the Warren people to the Sanders campaign is a natural fit that would have happened much sooner if the Warren supporters would have listened to Sen. Warren when she said on roughly one billion different occasions that she was not running.
Hillary Clinton has made a big play for Warren and her supporters. Clinton has met with Sen. Warren and sought out her opinion, and her student loan plan has Elizabeth Warren’s fingerprints all over it.
There is an interesting dynamic at play here where Sen. Warren will end up supporting Hillary Clinton, and the people who tried to get Warren to run for president will end up in the Sanders camp.
The draft Warren movement began because some progressive activists feel that Hillary Clinton is not far enough to the left. Bernie Sanders has always been the natural fit to get their support.
Sanders has established himself as the opposition candidate to former Sec. of State Clinton, and he is now attempting to consolidate the support of the grassroots progressive activists behind his campaign.
