Rudy Giuliani Tells Black People They’re To Blame For Police Brutality

For a week now, ex-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been appearing on news programs and going out of his way to make racially insensitive comments regarding the unrest in Ferguson over the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown. After getting into a heated argument with professor Michael Eric Dyson last Sunday on Meet The Press that drew a lot of media attention, Giuliani has used Fox News as a safe ground to further denigrate the black community and justify the racist remarks he made towards Dyson. This Sunday, he showed up on Fox News Sunday and continued to blame blacks for any mistreatment they may receive from law enforcement.

The former Republican Presidential candidate, speaking with host Chris Wallace, discussed perceptions within the black community that they are treated unfairly compared with whites. While Giuliani did say that he does think that blacks have a legitimate claim regarding unfair treatment, he said the main reason for his is because police have more interaction with African-Americans due to the higher crime rate and, therefore, it is on the black community to fix the problem.

WALLACE: Mayor, let me move you on to the bigger issue, though. Because I want you to take a look at a poll that we found. 70 percent of blacks say people in their community are treated less fairly than whites in dealing with the police. Only 37 percent of whites make the same complaint. Question, do you think that blacks have a legitimate complaint about racial discrimination by police in their communities?

GIULIANI: There is more interaction and more unfair interaction among police officers, white and black, in the black community than in the white community. And I think some of that responsibility is on the police department and on police departments to train their officers better and to make their police departments much more diversified. But I think just as much, if not more, responsibility is on the black community to reduce the reason why the police officers are assigned in such large numbers to the black community.

It’s because blacks commit murder eight times more per capita than any other group in our society. And when I assigned police officers with Commissioner Bratton and Commissioner Safir, we did it based on statistics. We didn’t do it based on race. If there were a lot of murders in a community, we put a lot of police officers there.

Obviously, Fox News was extremely deferential to Giuliani, with Wallace agreeing with him and the show’s production team tossing up chyrons during the segment pointing out New York City’s reduction in crime while Giuliani was mayor. Later on in the interview, Giuliani also reiterated his previous opinions that Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson should never have even been put into the position of having charges brought against him for shooting an unarmed teenager.

Mr. 9/11 has apparently decided that his new stock in trade is to be the GOP’s whitesplainer-in-chief, helpfully telling blacks what they need to do within their community while letting white Americans know that blacks are just dangerous criminals that need to be stopped-and-frisked and brutalized by the police. I guess since 9/11 happened over 13 years ago, and he can no longer get a huge reaction by constantly invoking his being mayor of NYC that day, Giuliani had to find himself another gimmick.

  1. Mr. Giuliani,

Your roots were not from this country, and back in the day I am sure you know all the ethnic slurs that were used for Italians, as well as Irish, etc. Did you forget where you came from?

You are a bigot and it shows. White people have a lot of crime in their neighborhoods, especially low income areas. Black or white, the economic inequality is largely to blame for crimes. I am a New Yorker and I was never impressed with you. Quit comparing black and white, look at the big picture.

Stop blaming black people for the issues that besiege them. The police may have more interactions with the black community, because the police are looking at them more closely. That is why you will remain on Fox news for your deprecating views, because Fox is a treasure trove for bigots like yourself.

  2. Yes that is why this USAF veteran was stopped in Jennings,Mo. Never having had even a so much as a moving violation at the time and told that I had painted my liscence plate. Another violent criminal black male. It took the officer twenty-five minutes to determine otherwise, while stood out in the cold. The first words uttered to me were”give me your dope”. I had a topserect security clearane while in air force by the way.

  3. The Former Mayor Guiliani REASONS…
1). ALL THE PEOPLE OF COLOR in USA statistically have more criminal records so therefore they must all be more criminalized with no justification of whatever they may be doing in their normal way of daily life just for being people of color?!?
2). Historic records of The New America’s Immigrants to North America have no civil, human rights violations and genocidal actions against All The People of Color Globally and should not be associated to our current American Civil, Human Rights and GENOCIDAL Violations because YES…WE ARE A NATION OF LAWS…
3). All of our Elected Officials, Public Safety Officers, Police(s), Churches historically from President(s) on down to the lowest level of public servants have no criminal record(s)SO WHATEVER ACTIONS THAT THEY DO AGAINST WHAT IS CIVIL, HUMAN RIGHT AND GENOCIDAL IS JUSTIFIED.
4). All of the above reason(s)-PROVIDE GOOD JOBS FOR OUR PRIVATE PRISONS,POLICE, MILITARY ALL UNDER “WAR ON DRUGS” GLOBAL …

  4. He used to be a good man who ran the biggest city in our country.

Now, he’s nothing more then another person spewing out crap on the world’s worst news network.

    What happened?

  5. The right wing has successfully set our country back decades. They have perpetuated White Fear, especially since we have had a Black President.

Of course, I think one has to be racist to begin with, otherwise White Fear would not take hold in some people.

  6. Guiliani never has been worth a darn, he was to blame for the travesty of the firefighters on 9/11 who did not have the radios that could communicate with control, he also kept the command center in the wrong place because it was convenient for him to have a hideaway there with his mistress.
After his missteps he paraded around taking credit for saving New York!

  7. I wish he would say that around me, I would get a globe and say “where should we start with white on white crime statistics”

Personally I don’t care what color a person is, crime is crime- he’s ridiculous and has always been a race-baiter, as a Native NY’er I know of what I speak-I’m surprised it took people so long to realize this about him…

  8. “…tossing up chyrons during the segment pointing out New York City’s reduction in crime while Giuliani was mayor.”

The reduction in New York City crime started during David Dinkins administration.
Under David Dinkins’s Safe Streets, Safe Cities program, crime in New York City decreased more dramatically and more rapidly, both in terms of actual numbers and percentage, than at any time in modern New York City history.[82] The rates of most crimes, including all categories of violent crime, made consecutive declines during the last 36 months of his four-year term, ending a 30-year upward spiral and initiating a trend of falling rates that continued beyond his term.[83] Despite the actual abating of crime, Dinkins was hurt by the perception that crime was out of control during his administration.[84][85] Dinkins also initiated a hiring program that expanded the police department nearly 25%.

    Rudy’s a fraud…

  9. Response to Kitalaq from Kitalaq:

Having experienced being criminalized or attempted to be criminalized by the Police State of our Nation that justify their criminal acts by creating laws; State and National Policies for the best interest of their Political Donors… Namely the ALEC/Koch Brothers/Big Oil/Big Pharmaceutical Companies/Multinational Corporations/Declaring Wars for their financial interest against other nations democratically voted sovereign interest(s),EPA, First Nations people of the World and even against our own American Citizens… IT IS HARD NOT TO BE SARCASTIC toward a person that is attempting to justify publically PUBLIC SERVICE OFFICIALS THAT COMMIT CRIMES for their own political interest.

My hope out of this national chaos that is getting intense as the days go by, is that… NATIONAL POPULOUS MOVEMENT IN THE ELECTION PROCESS WILL GET THE IDEOLOGICAL IDIOTS that are COGNITIVELY DISSONANT TO THE AMERICAN ELECTORATE get voted out in 2016!!!

    VOTE 2016!!!

  10. As a white male I actually understand the problem. That NO white male understands what it is like to be a Black Male in America.

  11. African man and his six-year-old daughter on their way home to get her Asthma medication, stopped and shot at by a cop.

Mr. Guliani, I hope your tongue swells to the size of your brain.

  12. A phony Mayor running his worthless mouth off on a phony worthless media station. They are both headed to hell. What a glorious day that will be.

  13. When the GOP privatized the prison system, they had to find a way to make lots of money. Hence, the war on drugs and black people. I thought we had grown since the LA riots and was stunned to find that we were still stuck in the 60’s and 70’s. I am astonished to hear the ranting of this moron and all the others who perpetrate hate. May the murder in Ferguson live in the hearts of all who oppose such violence and hate! May we band together and fight this disease!

  14. Rudy Giuliani would do best to keep his mouth shut or he will pay the consequences. He is not only ignorant but certainly unworthy of serving in public office.

As I wrote another time, Giuliani forgets the prejudice the Italians suffered when they emigrated from Italy to America.

We have a great Italian word that describes him to a “T”!

  15. there is a lot of hatred in the police department hate groups have Join are infiltrated Police Department which is very sad hide behind their badges justified the modern day lynching call it what you want sick people in the police department sad day in America don’t you know the world looking at you and God going to hold you responsible

  16. This is a totally biased slant on this story. A business had been robbed several times within the last few months and the owner was nervous when this man walked back and forth a few times looking like he was casing the place. The business owner called the police and the police stopped the man and spoke with him. It is what the police are supposed to do. The policeman was polite and respectful and the encounter ended the way it should. However you now get people saying he was stopped for walking while black with his hands in his pockets and nothing could be further from the truth.

  17. It appears as if everyone wants to forget the violent treatment of Africans here in America. We did not immigrate here to work and be abused for over 400 years. All the killing, rapes, lashes, hangings, mistreatment have had a extremely negative effect on our DNA. People do not treat their pets like this ever. And some of the reasons given for this treatment: “Blacks are Sub-humans, backwards, monkeys, gorillas”, etc. We were told don’t learn how to read and write or you will be killed! When so-called schools were formed, old outdated unscientific books were sent for children to learn from. And the list goes on an on. Violence begats violence, ask any social worker who has dealt with abused families.
