WH Official Says Trump’s Morning Meltdown Was Due to a Breitbart Headline

Donald Trump earned himself a “blunt” headline from CNN today over his morning tweetstorm accusing President Obama of wiretapping him:

And he has his hunger for conspiracy theory to blame, as the whole thing resulted from a Breitbart story making the rounds of the west wing, according to Brian Stelter:

That headline read: “Mark Levin to Congress: Investigate Obama’s ‘Silent Coup’ vs. Trump.”

According to Breitbart,

[Radio host Mark] Levin called Obama’s effort “police state†tactics, and suggested that Obama’s actions, rather than conspiracy theories about alleged Russian interference in the presidential election to help Trump, should be the target of congressional investigation.

Drawing on sources including the New York Times and the Washington Post, Levin described the case against Obama so far, based on what is already publicly known.

It is no wonder Trump, who gobbles this sort of nonsense up, jumped off his golden throne long enough to send out his hysterical tweets before running off to hit some golf balls.

Breitbart asserts that,

In summary: the Obama administration sought, and eventually obtained, authorization to eavesdrop on the Trump campaign; continued monitoring the Trump team even when no evidence of wrongdoing was found; then relaxed the NSA rules to allow evidence to be shared widely within the government, virtually ensuring that the information, including the conversations of private citizens, would be leaked to the media.

Levin called the effort a “silent coup†by the Obama administration and demanded that it be investigated.

The result was, as we have seen, not only Donald Trump sounding like a nutcase but revealing a FISA warrant on his own people, hardly a desirable result.
