In a statement releasing the testimony transcript, Feinstein said, “After speaking with majority and minority committee staff for 10 hours, Glenn Simpson requested the transcript of his interview be released publicly. The American people deserve the opportunity to see what he said and judge for themselves. The innuendo and misinformation circulating about the transcript are part of a deeply troubling effort to undermine the investigation into potential collusion and obstruction of justice. The only way to set the record straight is to make the transcript public.â€

The debunking occurs on page 175 of Simpson’s testimony:

The dossier was never the basis for the investigation. The Russia scandal investigation is based on intelligence obtained from within the Trump campaign among other sources, but it is much easier for Republicans to pretend that the Russia scandal is all some plot to help Hillary Clinton than it is to acknowledge the potential criminal corruption of their own president.

Sen. Feinstein deserves credit for her commitment to the truth. Republicans are trying to obstruct and hide information about Trump and Russia from the American people. The only way that the truth is going to be revealed is if Democrats step up and release it themselves.
