A Parkland Survivor Hung Up On Trump’s White House Because They Were Offensive

On Real Time with Bill Maher, Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor David Hogg said he hung up on the White House because they were offensive and showed no care for the funerals that were taking place for those who lost their lives.

Hogg said, “I hung up on the White House the other day. They called me, they actually called me the day before the listening session and asked if we would come, and I said, I’m not coming because we expect President Trump to come to the CNN town hall, which he never declined an invitation from. The fact that they called us the day before I found very offensive considering the fact that there were funerals the next day, I ended on this message and I said we don’t need to listen to president trump. He needs to listen to the screams of the children when the screams this nation.”

The Trump White House is known for their ability to offend grieving people. Trump insulted the widow of La David Johnson, the Green Beret who was killed in the Niger ambush during a phone call. Of course, the White House didn’t invite Hogg and the other students leading the Stoneman Douglas movement until the last minute. The White House didn’t want them there.

Trump couldn’t handle the questions from those who did attend without scripted notes to help him show empathy. Trump would have been eaten alive if the students who are leading the demonstration had been there.

The culture of offensiveness goes beyond Trump. It extends to his entire administration, and those who can’t give respect don’t deserve to get it. Hogg was right to hang up on this White House. Trump has no clue how to heal. This president only knows how to offend.
