Hours after Justice Anthony Kennedy announced that he would be retiring at the end of next month, Ari Melber dropped a chilling warning about what Trump’s goal will be when he is choosing a replacement judge.
As the MSNBC host noted, the Supreme Court could soon make key decisions regarding Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation into Russia, especially relating to the president.
Trump will likely pick a nominee that would tip the court in his direction and get him off scot-free.

Trump will pick a judge who will save him from Russia
When picking a Supreme Court nominee, typical right-wing presidents often choose backward-looking conservatives who seek to roll back women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, workers rights, minority rights and voting rights, among other things.
In the case of Trump’s next SCOTUS pick, all of these rights are at risk. It’s important Democrats in Congress communicate that to the American people every single day.
But also on Trump’s mind when choosing Kennedy’s replacement will likely be the ongoing Russia investigation.
As Ari Melber mentioned on Wednesday, the president’s next Supreme Court pick has the potential to decide if Trump will have to cooperate with Robert Mueller’s investigation – whether that’s handing over evidence or testifying. It could damage or completely unravel the Russia probe if it goes his way.
Democrats need to stand up against Trump’s Supreme Court pick and make Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell eat his own words: “The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new Congress.”
