Eric Trump said, “My father has incredible momentum. He has gotten more done in one year than arguably any president in history. How do they divert from that message? How do they save their own party when they don’t have any leadership. They don’t have any good candidates out there. They don’t have a message of their own. How do they do that? They obstruct. They distract, and they try and place blame. It’s the worst of government, and honestly, I think it’s a good thing for us.”
Trump’s son was echoing the thinking of the president, who has expressed on numerous occasions his support for a government shutdown, and how he believed he could benefit politically from damaging the lives of others.
Eric’s Trump’s comments blew to pieces the Republican cover story that Democrats made this shutdown happen. Democrats negotiated in good faith. They tried to prevent this shutdown. It has always been Trump who has blown up two deals and insisted on shutting the government down. Republicans were already losing on the shutdown politics. Eric Trump just made sure that their defeat is comprehensive.
Just when Republicans thought that it couldn’t get worse, Eric Trump went on Fox News and proved that the White House doesn’t care about any of the people they are supposed to be governing for. The Trumps only care about and see self-benefit.
