Former RNC Chairman Tells Trump To Wake Up Because His GOP Wall Of Protection Is Crumbling

Former RNC chair Michael Steele gave Donald Trump a wake-up call on Saturday and told the president that his days of being protected by a GOP-controlled Congress are over.

In a discussion on MSNBC’s AM Joy, the ex-GOP official said another wall Trump won’t be getting – besides the one on the southern border – is the wall constructed by Republicans to protect him from investigations and accountability.

“The president’s reality has changed,” Steele said. “He does not have the wall of protection that the Republican Party had given him for the past two years.”

Steele said:

The president’s reality has changed. He is now dealing in a space where he does not have someone who will come to the White House in the dead of night and give him state secrets about what’s going on on the hill and where investigations are. He does not have the wall of protection that the Republican Party had given him for the past two years. … He’s got a partial wall in the Senate. That is the second piece that’s going to be interesting for Mitch McConnell who’s going to be on the tip of the spear with members. We’ve already seen two of them sort of peel off, Corey Gardner being one of them, about this whole effort to push policy forward. Because these who guys are up for re-election in 2020 do not want that pressure. So it’s a new dynamic in D.C.

Democrats are fired up and ready to take on Trump

While Democrats have been (appropriately) criticized in the past for being weak and too willing to compromise, those days appear to be over.

Not only are they pushing policies to clean up Washington, but they have shown they are willing to pursue impeachment and support criminal indictment if that’s where the facts lead.

Donald Trump has spent two years with a Congress that has failed to fulfill its responsibility to provide checks and balances. As Michael Steele said on Saturday, he has been given a false sense of political safety by a Republican Party that has looked the other way throughout his corrupt and disastrous presidency.

Democrats are quickly proving that those days are over.
