Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said that Trump had lost touch with the American people when he fired Kirstjen Nielsen for not being extreme enough on immigration.
Schumer said in a statement provided to PoliticusUSA, “When even the most radical voices in the administration aren’t radical enough for President Trump, you know he’s completely lost touch with the American people.”
Children died under Nielsen’s immigration policy and it wasn’t enough for Trump
As the president of Vote Latino, Maria Teresa Kumar tweeted:
Breaking: @SecNielsen resigns. Under her watch, two children died. Families were separated – roughly 40 still not reunited, 3200 minors are being held in an internment camp in Homestead, Fl. Tested our asylum laws. So much that isn’t public. #FamiliesBelongTogether @votolatino

Children were taken away from their parents and placed in cages, and it wasn’t good enough for Trump. Thousands of children may never see their families again because they have been lost in the system after being taken away from their parents, and that wasn’t good enough for Trump. Innocent migrant children died, and Trump still wasn’t satisfied.
Donald Trump is looking for a DHS Secretary who will close down the border and break the law. Trump admitted earlier this week that he would be happy to crash the economy to seal the border.
Trump isn’t just out of touch with the American people. He is completely detached from reality.
As bad as Kirstjen Nielsen was, Trump’s immigration policy is about to get even worse.
