People in Trump’s inner circle say that they have never seen him more chaotic and are avoiding him because they are tired of his rants.

Robert Costa of CBS News tweeted:
“I have never seen him more irresponsible and chaotic then he is today. He seems to be in self-destruct mode. It is irresponsible to attack DeSantis and Youngkin, and it’s irresponsible to announce in any time in the near future" especially before GA runoff, per a Trump adviser.

Trump is acting like this because he has the DOJ breathing down his neck and he incorrectly thinks that announcing a presidential campaign will prevent a criminal indictment.
The playbook for Trump was supposed to be that Republicans would win the midterm in a wave election. He would take all of the credit for the victory and then announce his 2024 presidential campaign to stop the DOJ from indicting him.
The reality is that Republicans had a midterm election disaster. Donald Trump is being blamed, and Ron DeSantis is the new Republican star.
The key point that members of the media miss when talking about Trump’s potential 2024 run is that it doesn’t matter what elected Republicans want.
As long as the Republican base continues to belong to Trump, he has every reason to run for the nomination. Trump already knows that the complainers within the party will fall into line as long as he still has Republican voters with him.
Donald Trump’s power is his control over the party base. Until he loses the primary and gets rejected by GOP voters, the failed former president isn’t going anywhere.
