YouTube Suspends Rand Paul for One Week After He Lied About the Effectiveness of Mask-Wearing

YouTube has suspended Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) from its platform after he claimed that wearing a mask is an ineffective safeguard against Covid-19.

“This resulted in a first strike on the channel, which means it can’t upload content for a week, per our longstanding three strikes policy,” a YouTube spokesperson told CBS News in a statement. “We apply our policies consistently across the platform, regardless of speaker or political views, and we make exceptions for videos that have additional context such as countervailing views from local health authorities.” read more

Sherrod Brown Calls Rand Paul a “Lunatic” for Not Wearing a Mask

Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) in a statement to reporters said Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is a “lunatic” for refusing to wear a mask to protect others from Covid-19.

Asked about colleagues who don’t wear masks, Brown told the Cincinnati Enquirer, “One of them that’s an M.D., isn’t, but he’s kind of a lunatic,” a reference to Paul. “He thinks he wants to be different but it doesn’t serve the public interest.” read more

Rand Paul Delays Anti-Lynching Bill, Saying He Fears It Could Be Used in Cases of “Minor Bruises”

Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has delayed anti-lynching legislation, saying “there has to be some give and take” on the measure’s language.

“We want the bill to be stronger. We think that lynching is an awful thing that should be roundly condemned and should be universally condemned. I don’t think it’s a good idea to conflate someone who has an altercation where they had minor bruises, with lynching,” Paul said. read more
