Joe Biden came into the White House on a mission to get the COVID-19 pandemic under control. And for the most part, he has done that. Over 70% of Americans have already taken at least their first shot.
The Southern region of the United States largely votes for Republican politicians. And with the GOP now being the party of Trump, those lawmakers are fine with putting their constituents in danger to spare the former president’s feelings.
Ron DeSantis has spent much of the last year congratulating himself on how he has handled COVID-19. The Florida governor has leaned in hard to the culture war aspect of the pandemic.
Not only has he made a huge deal of fighting against mask mandates, he went as far as fundraising off shirts that slammed infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Ron DeSantis, more than any other governor in the country, has politicized mask wearing. He has regularly pointed to his state as a model for how COVID-19 should be handled.
At the same time, Florida is in the top 5 states for both total COVID deaths and cases. And right now, the virus is surging in Florida with 20% of new cases originating there.
Florida has kind of become the epicenter of the MAGA movement. Donald Trump, or course, decided to make it his permanent residence following his presidency. And while it was one time the nation’s biggest swing state, it has become much redder over the last 10 years.
Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump are often key allies within the GOP. But right now, the Florida governor has his hands full dealing with the recent building collapse in Miami.
And DeSantis feels that it would be best for all of his energy to by focused on handling the tragedy. With that in mind, the governor reportedly asked Trump to postpone his rally in Sarasota this weekend. And the former president is refusing to do so.
Back in September, two months before losing the election to Joe Biden, when Donald Trump was repeating the fallacy either he win the election or it’s “rigged,” Trump announced the formation of the “1776 Commission,” a retaliation against The New York Times’ Pulitzer Prize-winning “1619 Project,” dedicated to chronicling the country’s history beginning the year Europeans shipped the first enslaved Africans to American shores.
Ron DeSantis has spent much of the last year bragging about how the state of Florida has combated the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the fact that the state is in the top 5 in the nation in cases and deaths, the Governor has regularly touted his leadership.
Donald Trump has barely been out of office, but he is desperate to maintain his control of the Republican party. The GOP members of the House of Representatives seem eager to give it to him. They recently stripped Liz Cheney of her leadership position for coming out against Trump.
Donald Trump has lived in New York City for basically his entire life. But near the end of his presidency, he announced that he would be moving to Florida. And he didn’t just make the move for the weather.
When Donald Trump left the White House, he went right down to Florida and hasn’t really left Mar-a-Lago. Luckily for Trump the state is run by Ron DeSantis, a big booster of the former president.
Matt Gaetz is radioactive in the Republican party right now. After it was revealed that he was being investigated for sex trafficking, very few of his colleagues spoke on his behalf. Even Donald Trump, who Gaetz has been extremely loyal to, has remained mum on the subject.
Over the last 5 years, states like Georgia and Arizona have become bluer and helped Democrats gain control of the senate. At the same time, states like Florida and Ohio have become redder.
Florida, once the biggest swing state in the country, now has a GOP governor and two Republican senators. That does not mean, however, that Democrats can’t win there.
Matt Gaetz had a quick rise to political success. The Floridian became a Florida State Rep. by the age of 28. And by the time he was 35, he was a ember of the House of Representatives.
The controversial lawmaker had a lot of help in his career, much of it coming from his politician father Don. Don Gaetz is a former President of the Florida Senate.
It’s been a bit more than a week since the Matt Gaetz sex scandal began. Since then, it has seemed like the Florida congressman has made the wrong move at nearly every turn.
It also seems like Gaetz was expecting more support from the members of his own party. But nearly every fellow GOP lawmaker has remained silent, including Donald Trump.
The story of the Trump family began in New York City. Fred Trump, the family patriarch owned thousands of properties all over Queens and Brooklyn.
While son Donald claims he was a self made man, he actually inherited his father’s real estate empire. He then proceeded to build hideous properties all over the city.

Within weeks of being in office, Joe Biden passed a massive stimulus package. The legislation will put money in the pockets of millions of Americans and also aid countless small businesses.
The measure is favored by over 2/3’s of Americans and more than half of the country’s Republicans. GOP lawmakers are now in the unenviable position of having the slam the massively popular bill.
Most hospitality businesses had an incredibly difficult year in 2020 and the Trump Washington DC hotel was no exception. The hotel struggled to book guests with the COVID-10 pandemic raging.
And the hotel is also having trouble due to Donald Trump being voted out of office. CNN‘s Brian Todd recently reported, “It wasn’t that long ago the Trump International Hotel was buzzing, but tonight there are serious questions about its future. With Donald Trump out of office, there now seems to be little to attract guests to his gilded hotel.”
Donald Trump is no longer the President and spends most of his time at his Mar-a-Lago club. He has also lost the use of his Twitter account, which was until recently, his favorite way to connect with his supporters.
